I hope to god that those barrels are empty and I know for sure that I would not want to live near them regardless of their status. Not to be elitist but I prefer trees over barrels most days.

Interesting. When I took this photo, I really had no idea what those barrels were for. I wouldn't have named my post "barrels of fun" had I known what the were really used for. That's if what brian is suggesting is correct. I don't know what's going on. All I know is I take pictures and post em, but I am sorry if I grossed anyone out.

Whoa, I LOVE empty barrels!

I have turned food-grade ones into rain barrels for catching roof runoff and oil drums for making firepits, and this summer I'm going to take some other old plastic barrels and plant potatoes in them. It's supposedly a great way to get high yield in a small space...

Where was that pic taken?

@ ranty - This pic was taken near lake calhoun. I mapped it for you. Just click on the photo. That will take you to flickr. There is a map under the "additional information" area.

@ andrew - thanks. I agree, the tree does make it. Here is a picture of my favorite tree in all of uptown... You can see the barrels and this tree in the background of that photo.
