Corner of 31st and Hennepin

On the corner of 31st and Hennepin you will find lots of stuff to look at and read. I learned something about myself as I was uploading these photographs. I'm always looking at the stuff on the poles but rarely do actually read the content or message. It wasn't until I had to give these photos a name on flickr that I actually read the content. This probably doesn't make any sense to most people and is probably of little interest so I'll stop babbling now. In short, I am a very visual person. This is more of a note to self than anything else I guess...

U.S. Pond Hockey Championships 2007

Sadly the national pond hockey tournament was not held on Calhoun this year. The games took place on Lake Nokomis instead. That means I actually had to drive to watch the teams compete for the golden shovel. That also means I'll only post one photo of the games this year since they weren't held in uptown...

Outside the Walker at Night

Well, I have to say it appears that my sculpture garden photos were not a hit *insert tumbleweed animation here*. Perhaps these shots taken outside the Walker are better. This first one is probably my favorite photo of all time. The shutter speed was all wrong (among other things) but I still love it...



A bit darker but still on the bright side...



I like the three people in the restaurant here...

A January Cherry

I'm going to be posting photos of the Walker/Sculpture Gardens area over the next few days. It's not necessarily "Uptown" but it is right down the road. I tried to photograph the famous Spoonbridge and Cherry from less popular angles...



here's a black and white version...



The Spoon is 5,800 lbs. and the Cherry is 1,200 lbs.



I accidentally took this photo while I was trying to focus instead. I thought I would make the most of this mistake and swivel the tripod to create something interesting...

Windaisy

I shot the snot out of this flower graffiti. I've really been into reflections lately. Flower location: The empty space next to Lyles off Hennepin and Franklin.







Oh and to the boisterous women in the SUV that honked and blew me a kiss while I was taking these...Thanks!

Holiday Balloons

I shot these balloons from the street, through a storefront window that was in front of me. The background is a reflection off the window of what was behind me. Looks like a warming and cooling filter all at once. Just an experiment I guess.

Self Portrait

The Holiday decorations are still up outside of Old Chicago. I notice the big blue bulbs were getting weathered and losing their finish. I centered myself in front of some red car and snapped away...



I got a little too close on this one to hold focus but I like the composition...

The EXIT to nowhere can be found in the YWCA parking lot. Which is somewhere in Uptown.
