Fire Extinguisher Sign

Fire extinguisher sign near Lake Calhoun. Colors go well with the Holidays and all that jazz.

Blue Boats in da Snow

I know what I was trying to achieve in this shot but it didn't really work out the way I wanted. Still kinda like it.

Blue Boats N Snow 130

I Liked this shot except the pole was effecting the general composition of the photo. So I took it out in the image below.

Yellow Storage Makes me Wonder:

What do they keep in the locked up yellow storage thingy? How long have the keys been left in the lock? Why didn’t I just turn the key and find out?

Canoe in the Snow

WOW, I haven't posted anything since my birthday. Where did November go? Yes, I'm still alive and yes I have a lot of new photos to share. When I woke up this morning I noticed it snowed quite a bit, so I decided to spread my prints round town. Ended up taking lots of photos. Here's one I shot of a chained canoe off Lake Calhoun. 16 degree canoe ride anyone?

Glass-O-Water Over Cell

Reached for a sip of water in the middle of the night. Liked the way it looked while passing over my cell phone. Camera near by, took a photo.

More Graffiti On Bridge Compliments of Seed

There's more graffiti to be found on the other side of the bridge from Tubes. Once again, I like the artwork. But is that a swatchtica carved in his head? Somehow I never noticed it while I was taking the photos. Maybe reading Lunch's post over at Bjibbs yesterday made me more aware. Lunch - the Dome swatchtica hit me like a bolt of lightning the first time I noticed it. After all...It's huge.

Tubes Graffiti on Bridge

Sorry I haven’t been posting much of anything lately. Got this massive reoccurring knee sprain preventing me from doing much walking. Unfortunately not a lotta walking = not a lotta photos. I ran around Lake Calhoun too fast and I’ve been out for like a week. Someone said I should run bare foot but I’m not a hippy so no thanks. If this injury effects my snowboarding this winter I’m gonna go insane. The Doc recommends PT, so Physical Therapy here we come. Tons of fun. Enough bitchin bout my knee that nobody cares about. I hobbled down to the lake today and stumbled upon some awesome graffiti. Took a grip of photos.

Urban Bean Fly

Fly landed on my table at the Urban Bean in Uptown. Used macro to focus in all close like. Fly looks cool, but I like the way the background turned out even better. For the record, the Urban Bean doesn't have a massive fly problem or anything. It is by far my favorite coffee shop in Uptown. I can be found there at least once a week. (drinking black java)

and of course my obsession with viewing my photos inverted looks something like this...

Mouth Wash N Extract?

Spotted this interesting and or sad combination of empty bottles outside Hennepin/Lake liquors. So did they chase the mouth wash with vanilla extract? I don't know, maybe it's just garbage. Lets hope that's the case.

Failed Attempt to Tag the Theatre

This poor attempt to tag the theatre resulted in a huge mess, but the purple over yeller help add some much needed color to this photo. I can usually make out the local graffiti but I was unable to in this case.

Pics From the Fair

I said I would be at the Art Fair this weekend with camera in hand. As I left my place on Saturday to make the 2 block walk to the fair it occurred to me that I couldn't really take many pictures. I didn't want to offend any of the Artists by taking a one second photo of something they spent hours/days/weeks/months/years on. I didn't take any shots that have any artwork in them. I need to stop starting sentences with "I". I know better than that. It took me two days to see everything. Wow, is Art expensive! Here are some photos to give you an idea of the size of the Fair.

Uptown Art Fair is Here

Uptown Art Fair 2447

The burbs are coming, the burbs are coming! Well folks, its that time of year again when people from everywhere including the suburbs grab there kids and head on out to the Metris Uptown Art Fair.

I’ll never forget my first encounter with this event. I woke up, went out to my balcony to get a feel for the weather only to find poorly parked cars bumper to bumper everywhere. There seemed to be a never ending stream of people walking past my place. Something was drastically wrong with this picture but I couldn’t tell what. I figured there must be a massive protest going down. No, no, no, that can’t be right. Then I noticed it was the people that looked out of place. These weren’t Uptown folk at all. There were families, couples holding hands with strollers. Not the trendy twenty somethings I was used to seeing everyday.

It was the Uptown Art Fair and what a fine Art Fair it is. Tons and tons of excellent art all crammed into a one weekend event. So much to see so little time. Good luck finding parking if you go. It’s a Zoo and everyone’s crazy for art. I'll be there camera in hand.

A Different Perspective From the Tracks

Final pics from the tracks then I'll post some other shots.

I get sick and tired of seeing the same photos taken from railroad tracks over and over again. The ones that look like this...

I find the same image much more interesting upside down!

Railroad Tracks U 2317

or sideways...
